About Us

Cardiff Hockey Club was formed in 1988. Before the club could take the field, a few tasks had to be completed. A home ground was firstly established, and this eventually became Ulinga Park at Cardiff South. The field was in desperate need of repairs, so the fields were top dressed with new soil. A committee was formed, and the first season commenced in 1989. There were three men's teams playing in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in the Newcastle Men's Hockey Association competition. Players came from every to help form this new upcoming club.

Over the years the club grew. In 2005 we had one team in the under 9s and in 2009 two junior teams were fielded in the under 9s and C grade girls. Womens' teams came on board and to this day, 3 women's teams play in the Newcastle Women's competition at the Broadmeadow Hockey Centre.
